Bosch 21-CA Clear Advantage Beam Wiper Blade

Bosch 21-CA Clear Advantage Beam Wiper Blade - 21'
  • Precision-tensioned steel spring applies uniform pressure along the entire blade length
  • Aerodynamic wind spoiler improves airflow to create downforce and prevent blade lift-off
  • Graphite-treated natural rubber wiping edge for reduced friction and noise
  • Easy to install by pre-mounted multi adapter

I got this for the passenger side of our 4-door Honda Accord (2001). This is a cheaper version of their Icon wiper line. One of the differences is that it doesn't have that little plastic hood that cover the metal hook. Like the ICon, it is also very light and made mostly with composite materials instead of metal parts.

The soft frame curves and conforms to the shape of the surface glass as opposed to conventional wipers that has two parts the metal frame and the moving part that is the rubber. No streak and it looks great on my car.

Replacing wipers is pretty easy. You may need to look at the instruction as different manufacturers have different ways of releasing them from the hook, but basically takes only thirty seconds to remove the old and snap a new one.

CAUTION:

Be careful when you leave the wiper standing on your windshield after you remove the old one. The wiper is spring loaded, without the wiper it is pure metal and it may snap back to your windshield glass. You may want to place a cardboard box or a towel on top of your glass to protect it while replacing your wipers.

About a week after picking up these Bosch Clear Advantage wiper blades for my truck, we had the opportunity to put them to the test. While most of the country was enjoying warm autumn weather, we had a storm front of sleet and snow here in northern Minnesota. The days we don't get sleet, we've been having rain.

My husband has issues with squeaky windshield wipers. They bother him so much, he will just drive with low visibility rather than use wipers when they squeak. To him, the sound is as bothersome as nails on a black board is to others. Even the slightest squeak gets to him, so I had my fingers crossed these new blades wouldn't make any sounds. After removing the old blades and easily installing these Bosch Clear Advantage blades, we were elated to find they are whisper quiet.

They've done a great job of wiping away the rain, sleet and slushy snow we've had so far this year. They go on easily and are a great fit. Keep in mind that there is only 1 wiper blade in each package, so if your vehicle requires two blades of the same size, you will need to order 2 of these. Fortunately Amazon offers a Part Finder tool for automotive products, so you can enter in the make, model and year of your vehicle, and check to make sure the product you're buying is a match for your auto. You can use this tool to find exactly what size Bosch wiper blades are needed to fit your vehicle. Some vehicles require two blades of the same size, others require 2 blades that are each a different size. If you're uncertain what your vehicle requires, use this tool and it will identify what exactly you need to buy to achieve the perfect fit.

On the Honda Odyssey, the Bosch 26-CA fits the windshield wiper on the driver's side.

Installation is very easy. It just hooks right on, but note the direction of the blade. Make sure the thick part of the head where the windshield wiper hook inserts is facing the passenger side. The instructions are completely visual, but they do not make that clear. It is very easy to put on backwards. If you do, the blade could come loose. My boss said he installed windshield wipers once that came flying off. I imagine putting blades like this on backwards is one way that could happen. If you do it correctly, the blade should hold firm and not shift.

We were fortunate enough to get rain for me to test out the blade. Although the passenger side wiper leaves a streak, the driver's side wiper wipes clean. Somehow, my video is flipped and I can't flip it back. The right side in the video is actually the driver's side. I am very satisfied with the Bosch 26-CA.

I like the Bosch Clear Advantage Wiper. It is well constructed and installs very quickly. You can see in the video that the Bosch Clear Advantage Wiper has a natural curve to the shaft. Once installed the "Curve" flattens out and provide consistent pressure across the surface. Compare this with standard wipers that have a series of pressure points that used to provide a consistent wipe across the surface.

Notes-

Again, this was very easy to install

Nice solid construction high quality rubber, but we will see how long it lasts before it dry-rots.

So far it has provided a nice smear free surface

No squeeks

Does an excellent job in removing/wiping the water off of your windshield

Final Verdict So far the Bosch Clear Advantage Wiper is an easy recommendation if I have any issues over the years I will post an update!

5 Stars

These wiper blades are pretty cool. They have a curve to them which flattens out when the wipers rest on the windshield. Because of the curve, the blades are always under pressure which forces the entire blade against the windshield. This creates a tight seal so water and dirt are always wiped away. My windshield has no streaks.

The blade uses a single edge, which seems to work good enough. I usually use double edge blades, but am happy with the performance of this design. The curves really makes a difference.

The blades don't squeak when used. Most wiper blades are coated to not squeak, but over time this coating rubs off and the squeaking starts. So it's too early to tell, but so far, so good. If this changes I'll update my review.

*** UPDATE 1/29/13 ***

After 3.5 months these wiper blades are awesome! They are easily the best blades I've used. No streaks, no noise. I'm very impressed.
