I'm a 57 year old male with no kids at home and bought the Xbox mainly for exercise. I have a sense of humor and the exercise my wife does with DVDs led by mean girls is drudgery. This is a blastI can dance around like a madman for 20 minutes and work up more of a sweat than doing anything else. Plus, it's hilarious and entertaining. They have done a great job appealing to everybodyincluding me. Whether dancing on a flatcar in Arizona, in an elevator or on a wrestling mat to great tunes it is really fun. Many of the other dances are pop songs geared toward tween girls of course but they have a great selection of classics and goofy tunes/dances that are fun for everybody. The graphics are great too. As opposed to other reviewers I find the controls better and easier to use than on Just Dance 3. It takes some getting used to but that is just part of the game for me. Motion tracking seems better on this version too so racking up points is easier and there is more incentive to get the moves right. I am much more flexible, have better balance and lighter on my feet now when not playing the game and it has been a big help keeping me young. Great job, Ubisoft and I'm looking forward to more add-on tunes.

Everyone is of course talking about the different interface that this game uses, so I thought I should address that. First of all, they have done away with the option to use the controller, so you have to use the Kinect. That's a little annoying for me, because now I have to select the song for my three-year-old, since she can't possibly figure out how to point to everything. So here's how this new interface works: instead of going up and down with your hand and swiping across your body to select the song, you now have to "point" to the song you want. You keep your hand close to your body in order to hover the game's hand over a song, and then you point your finger (by extending your arm towards the screen) to select it. One point will preview a song, and then you point again to pick it. It takes a little getting used to, but I just got this thing and am already getting the hang of it after 25 minutes of play. One thing I LOVE about the new interface is that you have to raise your hand in order to be in control of the Kinect. As long as no one else raises their hand, you will stay in control. It is endlessly annoying when my two-year-old jumps in front of me while I'm trying to control things on other games, so I really appreciate this aspect of this game.

Someone said it really bothered them that the game asks if you want to share your pictures after every song. It does indeed do this, and it's a little stupid, but it takes me about 5 seconds to get past it, so I think I can deal with that.

Now for the actual game: I love it! The songs are fresh and new, and they're totally fun to dance to. I love Good Feeling because it seems to have some true hip-hop moves, and I feel like a bit of a bad a** when I dance to it. The first one my daughter and I danced to was Love You Like a Love Song, and it was awesome to look at. The graphics are very vibrant and pretty, and they seem to be much clearer than the last game's. Also, in Just Dance 3, I seem to get screwed in the gameplay a lot. For instance, I know I just did a move perfectly, but it'll only give me a "Good." (I swear I know when I hit a move or not.) It seemed to be stingy with its "Perfects." Just Dance 4 has gotten better with this aspect. I feel like I'm being judged fairly, and that makes me REALLY happy. I should mention that raising your hand in the screen before the song starts does not change difficulty levels. I'm not sure if you can change that sort of thing in the options or something, but you can't do it there.

I haven't been playing this long enough to comment on all the extra features of this game, but there do seem to be a lot more than in Just Dance 3. There are several challenges for each song, so that'll keep us busy for a while. I'm really happy I bought this, and it'll provide hours of fun for me and my daughter especially (my son's a little disappointed that there isn't a robot song in this game). I recommend it, if you feel confident in your Kinect abilities.

UPDATE 11-17-12

If you look at the comments on this review, you'll see that Ubisoft has now made this game compatible with the controller. It works great, and now my daughter can pick the songs herself, which is awesome. Thanks, Ubisoft!

Introduction :3

I have been wanting this game since the beautiful day it was announced and I saved up every penny to pre-order! At first I had problems using the kinect and now they have made a controller update! I still use both either way! This game is packed with Sweat breaking dancing! I have collected all the mojo I could and unlocked everything! Now my new conquest is to beat all of the Dance quests provided to help with earning mojo!

Problem and Solution(*****)

After every flippin song they will ask you if you would like to share horribly unnatractive photos and videos of you dancing. In order to disable that and make it never come on is to go to XBOX preferences and select sign in offline it will appear you are offline but still on the account just without XBOX LIVE or go to the Settings menu on JD4 and click the camera to disable it!

Cool and Interesting Rewards!

After dancing and having a blast you earn Mojo! Mojo was introduced in Just Dance 3! As all of us know after earning a Fruit load of Mojo you unlock random items but these items aren't so random at all! With the kinect feature you can spin around a roulette and fairly get your reward! Rewards end at level 32

Song List (*****)

The song list contains a unique interesting blend that creates Just Dance 4. There are recent songs and old songs! The list seems like a compilation of songs that use to be at the peak of fame during a certain Music Generation. Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock is a fun and interesting dance for all of ages to come. Asereje the ketchup song was very popular when I was much younger! So if you have a palette of interesting friends then this song list will be enjoyable!

Song List Part 2: Just Sweat and Join in! (*****)

You may be like what does he mean "To Have fun" Well what I mean is to enjoy yourself while dancing! If you are struggling with being overweight then go on to Just Sweat and It will sure to help! Just Sweat includes I think 5 plans and unlockable plans for you to get funky and down with! If you hate Justin or One Direction brush it off your shoulder and just join and and have fun there is no need to be negative!

Dance Central?!

As all may know this little fan war Just Dance vs Dance central has been going on since the release of JD3. For my opinion the Just Dance Series lives with simplicity, their game is designed for all ages to play! All of their moves are easy to understand and uses a cute grading system. As for Dance central its title lives up for Extreme dancers, ones who wants a challenge in dancing not suitable for younger children to play. People who want to pursue their life want to feel all the colors of dance so they would prefer Dance Central. Just Dance lives with simplicity anybody can get the moves down fast and easy! And thats what I have to say on the discussion!

Overall I think Just Dance 4 makes up for JD3. Just Dance 3 gave a bad impression on just dance but since I played JD 1 & 2 I just wanted to keep playing more! I dont really understand why most people hated JD3. JD3 was an opening to all the motion consoles! I was so happy when I heard the news! The day when I ordered JD3 and when it came in I lost 10 pounds playing it in a week because It was suck a fun and enjoyable game to play! And then when Thanksgiving came in me and my cousins all joined in and Just Danced for 6 hours straight!!!! We all had the time of our lives!

Do not buy this game until there is an update to use the controller! Terrible changes were made to the selection process and it is practically impossible to go through the menu options to select a song. Why fix something that wasn't broken? The way you have to hold your hand out and pull your arm back to select something, is frustrating. My kids do not even want to play this because they are extremely frustrated with the entire process. I am sorry I didn't read the reviews before I bought this. Until we can use the controller, we won't be playing this game!

UPDATE 11/17/12: Thank you Ubisoft for listening to your customers and updating this issue!!! We are so happy to now have the update for the controller option!

The interface has changed since Just Dance 3, which may pose a problem for some users. While the program is made by Ubisoft for Xbox, there is some resemblance to Microsoft's recent strategy of getting away from skeuomorphism so perhaps the development environment fostered these changes -but this is a just a guess. Personally, I find the sticky fingers aspect for controlling tiles not particularly robust.

Compared to Just Dance 3, the song selection is even better suited to parties. Personally, I was sold on "Time Warp".
