As someone who was beyond overjoyed to find something that actually got rid of some seriously "unriddable" mice, I am astounded to see the negative reviews here, As they seem to be posted in a relatively short timeframe, I wonder if they got bad/old product via Amazon (there was a quality issue on bags made last November see the note on the Fresh Cab website). I also wonder if they are using enough pouches and placing them properly.

This stuff WORKS, and it worked when nothing else did. With that in mind: A few weeks ago while mowing my backyard I noticed that I killed three baby mice that were living in the backyard underneath some unusually high grass. (It was sad to see them take their last few breaths). A week or so later, for the first time since I moved in, I saw 2 mice in the house specifically the kitchen, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. My wife also stated that she heard one rustling in the dining room and saw feces around the dog bowl.(They probably ate some of the leftover food).

I went old school and purchased wooden traps. 1st day set a few traps.. one dead mouse (interestingly enough the mouse ate bait off of 3 traps unscathed but upon the 4th and biggest meal..DEATH.. greed got it in the end..) however my wife said she saw more feces near the dog bowl a day after. So 1 more trap another dead mouse.. I knew I needed to step my efforts up to prevent an infestation. I did a ton of research which I suggest you also do.

If you want the cliff notes here it is... All of the most popular methods work in some fashion.. you just have to stop the mice from getting in to your home and kill them faster than they can breed. So, based on the videos and reviews all over the web I purchased two boxes of Fresh Cab and ordered some Peppermint Oil and set a another wooden old school trap.

I placed the fresh cab in my kitchen in the same places I set the traps and caught the mice previously. I also placed fresh cab around the perimeter of the kitchen, near the basement and back doors. I, since, have seen (1) mouse, only in the basement coming in through a crack in my foundational wall. So I placed a bag there too. I havent seen, nor heard, any mice in the house, since, and proof is that I still have their favorite trap near the basement door baited and set. I'll switch the bait and reload for final confirmation. I haven't had to even crack the bottle of peppermint oil.

Some final thoughts... mice are smart, have great memories and use their noses as their guides. Fresh cab blocks the smell of their food source so that they cant find it. If they are familiar with your house and know where the food is, then fresh cab probably wont help because they are relying on distance and memory, not smell.(Think of the rat/mice mazes and how each time they run the maze/race they perform it faster!!) Furthermore, if you have a real infestation and are not actively killing them, suicide is much better for them than freezing or starvation. So fresh cab, baits and traps wont scare them off if they are excessively breeding, hungry and freezing.

If you buy this or anything else.. placement is the key..

1st: Keep a clean home/kitchen.. Also, make sure there is NO access into your cupboard, cabinets, drawers, oven, fridge etc. for a mouse or roach for that matter to squeeze into. This will cut off their food source. However, this is a catch 22 because this can force them into the walls to keep breeding while they wait for food (which is what actually happens when you have a cat). So you have to make them get out of your house to go somewhere else or find a way to kill them ALL. Your house's structure will determine how to best accomplish this goal. Also, its usually not a problem after a few months of no food.

2nd: Switch up the placement of your food in your cabinets and cupboards to make the rodents "hunt/find" your food again. High placement is preferable. Try to keep all food in one area of your house so that you dont have multiple mice setting up shop in multiple rooms. Mice dont nest too far from their food or heat source. So, fireplaces, radiators, heaters, closets are hiding spots. Anywhere from 20 -100 feet from the food is their preferred distance. They want to get in and out!

3rd: Place fresh cab or any other bait/poison/trap in their favorite path of travel.. but make sure you specifically address their preferred wall access point. (My house it was a spot between the kitchen sink and dishwasher and another near the basement door.) Put a bag or two directly on the access point and put the rest "near" the food sources. Im not sure putting it with/in a cabinet, cupboard or other food source is a good idea. Again, Fresh cab is supposed to block the smell of food so if its inside your cupboard full of food, then the mice might still be able to work their way to the source/smell. Especially, if they are already familiar with the location.

** for those people that had mice eat it and poop on it :( you might have super mice!** For residents of New York City, you have super mice! Thats what my friends from the NYC tell me...

Seriously, if you use this product with another method and follow some of my DIY tips you should see a change, otherwise you probably have a true infestation and should call a company that will stop more from coming in and kill ALL that stay.
