Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood: Play at Home with Daniel

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood: Play at Home with Daniel
  • Doctor: Play Doctor Daniel with the instruments that doctors use. When children play about being the doctor, they're in charge. That can make it easier to manage when they have to be the patient.
  • Bedtime: Help Daniel get ready to go to sleep - and your children can be thinking about their own bedtime routines and the things that help them at bedtime.
  • In Daniel's Bathroom: Wash, brush and flush with Daniel and play about and practice bathroom routines.
  • Sticker Book: Children can have fun making up their own stories as they play with dozens of stickers in Daniel's house and Neighborhood.

My 3.5-year-old LOVES this app. She likes playing other games on my Fire (Fruit Ninja, Where's My Water), but gets frustrated with them easily as she doesn't quite get how to interact with them yet. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is just open-ended playtime, so it's less stressful for all of us. She does have a little difficulty with the doctor game, since she presses too hard on my Fire's screen and ends up "dropping" the tools a lot, so I try to steer her away from that one for now.

She's not the only Daniel Tiger fan in the house, either: my 1-year-old LOVES the bathroom and bedtime games, and honestly I enjoy messing around with the app, too -it's very cute and well-made.

I usually stick to the free apps, because my kids are pretty fickle, but this one was definitely worth the purchase.

Based on Daniel Tiger which is based on MR Roger's Neighborhood. This little app has so many things for a toddler or preschooler to do! They can begin immediately with no help from you. My 22 month-old grand daughter waltzes into my house every day and says "iPad" ok, she can't say Kindle yet, then "Meow." That mean she wants Daniel.

She helps him brush his teeth, puts him to bed, uses the potty, adds TP and flushes it away. She turns lights on and off, makes scenes with digital stickers, and knows all the animal sounds in this app.

She plays the games and has been able to do all of the screen without help. Even if you can't find this for free and have to pay a couple bucks it is WORTH it. Looks just like the PBS show. The characters make animal noises and talk. There are many screens of activities and the simple, colorful drawings are charming. No ads. NO buy-something buttons. No way to get out onto the Internet. Safe, pretty, fun play. I'd give it ten stars if I could.
