A-Zoom 9Mm Luger Precision Snap Caps (5 Pack)

Not much to say here: they're aluminum snap caps, they feed and cycle like live ammo, they're nearly indestructible. I like these over plastic snap caps very much. I couldn't tell you how many thousands of dry fires my snap caps have seen but they still work flawlessly.

The only negative comments I have are:

A) The red finish wears over time. Not a big deal, really. Just something to note.

2) Your weapon's steel extractor will (naturally) wear the aluminum case rim over time. Again, not a big deal, just dress the burrs with some 600 wet/dry sandpaper and carry on.

Buy lots to keep up your trigger press and weapon manipulation skills. They also work very well for mixing randomly in a magazine of live ammo to simulate a dead primer for tap/rack/bang drills. Highly useful!

I've tried the majority of snap caps on the market and A-zoom snap caps are the best. Their all-aluminum construction is nice, but only slightly better than the hard plastic that others snap caps offer. What makes the A-Zoom snap caps the best is the rubber primers they use. They will last forever. If all you do is cycle your weapon, then any snap caps will do. But if you are like me and you buy snap caps to dry fire with, then this design is the only way to go. Another popular brand uses a brass primer with a spring in front of it to "absorb" the energy. It seems like a good idea, but after 100 or so dry firings the brass primer eventually gets a big hole in it from the firing pin and soon the firing pin doesn't even contact the snap cap. This means those snap caps only protect the firing pin for 100 rounds and then function as dummy rounds. The A-Zoom snap caps have no such problems. Their rubber primers return to shape after hundreds of dry fire drills. The purple finish of the snap caps will rub off with continued use, exposing the silver aluminum below, (I wish they made it bright silver to begin with they are easier to identify as snap caps) but this has no adverse effect on cycling. I have yet to see a better design, and although the competition often offers more snap caps per package, the A-Zoom's will never need replacing.

These snap caps show very little wear after being cycled through my CZ-75 many times and dry-firing has produced no visible marks where the pin strikes. I expect it will be a very long time before they need replacing.

These enable you to dry fire your weapon without damaging the striker or firing pin in your gun. You can also use them to practice safely loading and unloading your gun.

But I think the most effective way to use these guys is at the range. Have a friend load one or two of these snapcaps into your magazine with other live ammunition. Then shoot through the magazine. When you pull the trigger, and nothing happens, you can see how you naturally react to shooting. Do you push down on the gun to compensate? Are you wincing? This is a great way to correct shooting errors.

Good product for practice loading, unloading, and for "feeling" trigger, and for practice drawing from holster, racking slide, pulling trigger.

These seem OK.

Possible improvements? Brighter unnatural color? (BLAZE ORANGE, NEON BLUE, GREEN) The dark red (in the right light) might look like old dark brass.

Also, why not make the rim of the cartridge that touches the extractor out of natural brass? would it last longer than the aluminum these are made of?

These seem overpriced for what they are.

They seem to wear out a little faster than I would expect.

25 trips through being loaded in a mag, chambered and then extracted and the rims are getting rough.

I don't expect them to last too much longer...
